  • East Mostly Up on Dennis Threat; West Softer

    The industry was keeping its collective fingers crossed Friday as it watched the potentially destructive Hurricane Dennis eventually land in south-central Cuba on its way to the eastern Gulf of Mexico (GOM). The situation kept prices on the rise in most of the East. Except for a few flat to as much as 20 cents higher points, western markets tended to be weaker overall, with losses ranging up to about 30 cents.

  • Williams Considers Investments to Pay for AK Pipe

    Williams Cos. CEO Cuba Wadlington Jr. said last week that his company is committing itself to build a pipeline to deliver natural gas from the North Slope to markets in Alaska, Canada and the Lower 48, and announced a feasibility study has begun that will look at new petrochemical investments in Alaska, which could finance the pipeline.

    Cuba Wadlington Jr. has officially assumed the role of presidentand CEO of Williams' gas pipeline unit. Wadlington succeeded BrianO'Neill, who announced last summer his intention to retireeffective Jan. 1. Wadlington, 56, previously served as executivevice president of Williams' gas pipeline unit and senior vicepresident and general manager of Williams Gas Pipeline-Transco.
