What is a Virtual Pipeline?

Virtual pipeline refers to the process of bringing natural gas to a customer that is neither able to secure gas supply from a local distribution company nor is tied directly to a mainline natural gas pipeline or gathering system. Or, as in the case across much of the U.S. Northeast, virtual pipelnes can serve as a source of peak or emergency supply for gas customers that are already hooked up to the conventional gas grid. Virtual pipeline companies are able to put the super chilled LNG in speciality trucks, and deliver it directly to customers.
