Grupo Hade Group's story

Lucía, 58 years of age, is a single woman with eight years of education, and her priority has been to take care of her parents and work to support the household finances. She is an enterprising woman who started her business more than 20 years ago.

Lucía started out by making ribbons used in wrapping gifts. When she started, she was delivering to three customers. However, now her customer base has grown, and the business has too. Currently, she also makes piñatas and wreaths from nylon and paper.

As a short-term goal, Lucía envisions having a shop to display her products, employ more people, and extend her services to new customers. With her first Kiva loan, Lucía intends to buy a machine for sealing packages and providing a better delivery presentation, as well as nylon and plastic flowers to continue making more wreaths.

Nine women participate in the "Microcredit Plus" program of loans, educational training, and health services. They live in the department/state of Suchitepéquez. They intend to invest their Kiva capital in their businesses of handicrafts, clothing sales, jewelry, food sales, corn milling, stores selling daily consumables, and sales of plastic containers.

In the educational monthly meetings, a facilitator provides information about effective business management practices, health, hygiene, nutrition, and the use of medicinal plants. The program changes the lives of women who want to combat poverty. Thank you!
